Wade Sukut Memorial Scholarship

The Wade Sukut Trust awards two (2) $1,000 scholarships each year. The philosophy in awarding these scholarships may differ a little from what is probably the "normal" perception of a scholarship.

The Trust was established to honor the memory of Wade Sukut, a McCone Electric Co-op., Inc. lineman who was killed on the job. Wade was a dedicated caring professional who was highly respected by his peers. In honoring him, we are looking for students that wish to enter the rural electric field, particularly as linemen. We are not really looking for students with high GPAs or high ACT/SAT scores. Our ideal applicant would probably be the student that is average academically and seeks to go to a trade school (again giving preference to the one seeking a career as a lineman). This is not to say the scholarship application is not open to high achieving individuals or high achieving individuals may not choose a trade school. We also understand that in any given year there may not be any students seeking a career in the rural electric field. The scholarship must be mailed to McCone Electric and postmarked by the last day of  February.
