Energy Share of Montana
Energy Share is a nonprofit organization that helps Montanans overcome energy emergencies and move toward self-reliance. It is not a yearly subsidy and is not based solely on income but on the individual situation and level of emergency. You may apply at Action for Eastern Montana (aemt.org).
Low Income Energy Assistance Program "LIEAP"
LIEAP assists eligible Montana residents with heating costs from October 1 through April 30 each year. It is federally funded through the Department of Health and Human Services and eligibility is based on your income and resource limits. Both homeowners and renters may apply for this program.
The 2022-2023 Program Year Income Limits are $28,136 for one person, $36,793 for two, $45,450 for three, and $54,108 for four people.
If your household receives benefits from the Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP), Supplemental security Income (SSI), or the Temporary Assistance to Needy Families (TANF) program, you may qualify automatically.
